Biography

Glenn Grishkoff has been given the honor of sharing first place for receiving this years 2005 American Bamboo Society Annual Craft Award. Glenn was recently one of the first invited Artists in Residence at the LH Ceramic Residency in Joseph, Oregon and a senior artist in residence, summer of 2005, at the Oregon College of Art and Craft in Portland, Oregon.  He earned a MFA from Claremont Graduate University in California and a BFA from California State University, Fullerton.  His work was shown at the Paris Gibson Square Museum of Art in Great Falls, MT in a show entitled, Art Equinox 2003: A Regional Survey of Contemporary art and Glenn received the jurors award for the best in show for sculpture. 

In January 2004, Glenn was an invited to the 60th Scripps Ceramics Annual in Claremont, CA.  This ceramic invitational is the oldest and most prestigious annual ceramic show in North America.  Glenn is represented by the Art Spirit Gallery of Fine Art in Coeur d' Alene, Idaho, The Trios Gallery of Fine Art, in Solana Beach, California and Armstrong Ceramics in Pomona, California.

Some of his past accomplishments include an invitation to participate in the eight annual international workshop for ceramic art in Tokoname, Japan in 1992.  In 1994, Glenn accepted an invitation as a guest artist at the Shigaraki cultural ceramic park in Japan, where he created a series of ceramic work to be included in the visiting artists museum collection.  In the fall of 2000 he was invited to show in; the 14 American Potters Exhibition at the Moiegi gallery in Mashiko, Japan. 

In 1995, he received a research grant to travel throughout southern Africa and Namibia to research artists and create his own artwork including mix media brushes.  His artwork resulting from this trip was shown in a solo show fall of 1995 at the McDonough Museum of Art in Youngstown, Ohio.

Glenn developed a national and international reputation as a brush maker and ceramic artist.  His sculptural brush-like forms are functional works of art.  He produces these brushes from various hairs such as deer hair, horse hair, and other natural materials and these brushes are used for mark making on various mix media surfaces. 

He was invited to numerous national and international exhibitions.  Since 1992, Glenn presented over 125 workshops and lectures focusing on the art of Eastern and Western brush making and ceramics including the following selections:
